Kittitas

kittitas thumb 2Kittitas is just east of Ellensburg, off of Interstate 90.  This small town sprang to life alongside the Milwaukee Road - the nickname for the old Chicago-Milwaukee-St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. Today, Kittitas is centered in agriculture. Farmlands ring the township, but the small train depot of days gone by still remains.

The John Wayne Pioneer Trail, which follows the roadbed of the former Milwaukee Road, goes through Kittitas on its way to the border with Idaho. It is heavily used by hikers, horse riders and mountain bikers.
