Four-Year College/UniversityCentral Washington University, located in Ellensburg, is one of six state-supported institutions offering baccalaureate and graduate degrees. Average annual enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year was 8,147 and 9,800 when combining all CWU campuses. (Source: Central Washington University)
Midstate Aviation, Inc. has trained pilots since 1961. Located in Ellensburg at Bowers Field Airport, Midstate provides flight and ground training for the issuance of pilot certificates and ratings from Private Pilot through Multi-Engine Flight Instructor.
Elmview, a private non-profit organization, assists people facing significant lifestyle challenges to work toward their chosen quality of life. Elmview Vocational Services offers the opportunity to identify individual talents and skills, learn job skills, assist in finding a job and provide support to keep to keep that job.
K-12 Educational FacilitiesThe Ellensburg School District, the largest district in the county, serves a student population of approximately 2,998 in 3 elementary schools (K-5), 1 middle school (6-8), and 1 high school (9-12). There is approximately 301 Full-time, certified and classified staff positions (FTE). The programs encompass the needs of Special Education children as well as those of gifted students; academic pursuits as well as technology and vocational education are provided. Smaller school districts within the county include Damman, Easton, Thorp, Kittitas and Cle Elum/Roslyn. A full range of athletic activities is offered throughout the district. There are also several private schools located in Kittitas County.
